    The Organization

    The Human Resources Group of West Michigan (HRG) is an organization for Human Resource professionals with responsibilities in many HR areas including Human Resources Administration, Employee/Labor Relations, Training and Development, and Compensation and Benefits.  Our current membership includes Vice Presidents/Directors of Human Resources, Industrial Relations Managers, Generalists, Specialists and Assistants from a wide cross-section of West Michigan’s private and public employers in many industries including, but not limited to, manufacturing, insurance, banking, healthcare, public accounting, advertising, education, retailing food processing, distribution, consulting firms, and government.  General members also include consultants, academics and others with an interest in Human Resources.

    HRG is also an affiliate chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), a national organization with over 300,000 professional and student members and 575 chapters throughout the United States (and the world).  SHRM is the world’s largest human resources association dedicated to providing support and leadership for the growth and development of the profession.

    Founded in 1964, HRG was originally referred to as the Grand Rapids Personnel Council and is the third oldest SHRM chapter in the state of Michigan.

    • To be West Michigan’s most trusted, knowledgeable resource on people issues and opportunities in the workplace.

    HRG Mission

    • To provide the West Michigan Community with a forum to share HR expertise and information through pro-active thought leadership, education and development on the critical issues facing management.

    The chapter accomplishes the above by presenting nine meetings per year offering up-to-date, innovative information on pertinent topics presented by industry professionals.  Additionally these meetings provide the opportunity for networking opportunities with fellow members to discuss and learn what HR practices are being implemented successfully in local businesses.

    Fees & Dues

    • Typical meeting fees are $30.00 for those WITH a completed HRG application on file prior to registering for a meeting.
    • Typical meeting fees are $40.00 for those WITHOUT a completed HRG application on file prior to registering for a meeting.
    • Typical meeting fees are $20.00 for Student members WITH a completed HRG application on file prior to registering for a meeting.
    • If your employer is a TEA member company, your personal annual HRG membership dues of $40.00 is waived, upon completion and approval of this application.
    • If your employer is NOT a TEA member company your annual HRG Membership dues are only $40 per individual member for the entire year. (A separate email, with payment instructions, will be sent once the application is received and approved.)
    • In addition, we strongly encourage all HRG members to become members of the national Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
    • If you are already a SHRM member, please be sure you have designated HRG (0057) as your primary chapter using the Chapter Designation Form.

    NO SOLICITATION POLICY

    It is the policy of the Human Resources Group of West Michigan (HRG) not to permit the direct solicitation of our members at meetings, or at any HRG event or activity unless approved by the Board of Directors.
